![]() You’ll definitely be set up for an action-packed day ahead. Tilly’s of Castleton is a favourite of ours for a late breakfast – expect the longest list of Welsh rarebit and loose leaf teas that you’ve ever seen. It really is such a picturesque village and very quintessentially ‘Peak District’. In total, this dog walk is 6.5 miles long so allow a few hours to complete it, but make sure to stop in Castleton before or after to try out one of the many cafés or pubs. It’s famous for its large deposits of Blue John stone and is home to some of the most beautiful cave formations found in the UK. We’d definitely recommend stopping by the dog friendly Treak Cliff Cavern on your way up to the peak for a tour of the caves deep beneath the mountain. ![]() Then it’s a breathtaking 3 km ridge walk to Lose Hill before looping back into Castleton. The walk starts in the beautiful village of Castleton before a steep ascent to the peak of Mam Tor. We really love the route from Castleton that incorporates Treak Cliff Cavern, Lose Hill and the Great Ridge. With spectacular 360 degree views over the surrounding area, it’s somewhere that should be on your Peak District must-visit list. Mam Tor is an incredibly popular place to visit.
